Abstract
This article deals with the main peculiarities of forming grammatical skills of students in learning modal verbs of the English language at university, as well as the principles determining the practical directivity of the grammar textbook, developed and successfully tested at the Department of contrastive linguistics IFIC KFU in order to overcome possible difficulties in studying these grammatical phenomena and to improve the efficiency of the learning process.
