The role and value of electronic dictionaries for historical and linguistic research

Abstract
Dictionaries carry out the most important functions of fixing, systematization, accumulation and storage of knowledge of the world, about people, about language. Electronic versions of dictionaries of Russian of the XVIII century and their computer inventory will allow to impart this knowledge from generation to generation in an available form, providing a key to the past, to richness of national history and culture.
